Powered by Qualcomm’s top-end Snapdragon 865 chipset, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is the Chinese manufacturer’s latest flagship device with 120W charging, 120Hz screen, 120x digital zoom. The new Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra might just be one of the more cutting-edge phones of the year and suitably high-end phone to mark the occasion.
The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra has just been released – and it’s carrying some particularly exciting tech. This camera phone is the first ‘Ultra’ in Xiaomi’s line-up, and it definitely lives up to its name with its powerful specs. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra features a 120Hz refresh rate display, 50W wireless charging, 120W wired fast charging and a quad camera unit to rival the best camera phones out there.
This quad camera unit features a 48MP main camera, a 48MP periscope telephoto digital zoom that can extend up to 120x, a shorter 12MP telephoto camera and a 20MP 13mm ultra-wide camera (which is apparently the widest camera available on a smartphone).
The periscope camera is definitely one of the most interesting aspects of Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra, offering a 5x optical and 120x hybrid zoom with a 1/2.0″ 48MP sensor. The second 12MP telephoto lens also offers 2x optical zoom. In addition, both the primary and telephoto cameras also support 8K video recording.
The Ultra’s main camera uses a 48MP Quad-Bayer sensor instead of the 108MP version in the Pro. The long tele-lens is stabilized and now comes with a staggering 120mm equivalent focal length versus 94mm on the Pro, and at 1/2-inch versus 1/4.4-inch, the image sensor is considerably larger on the Ultra. Xiaomi has also made improvements to the ultra-wide camera. It offers an optical focal length of 12mm, and even after distortion correction has been applied, we still measured 12.5mm, the widest field of view of all ultra-wide cameras we have seen to date.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra will also have the Snapdragon 865 chipset with four different storage options: 8G RAM/ 128GB storage, 8GB RAM/ 256GB storage, 12GB RAM/ 256GB storage and 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. Meanwhile the aforementioned 120W Mi Turbo Charge will apparently be the fastest commercially available charging solution when the phone hits the market. Xiaomi makes the extraordinary claim that this 120W fast charging can fill up the 4,500 mAh battery in just 20 minutes.
All of this powers a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED panel, packing a 120Hz refresh rate for smoother system navigation and gameplay. Hopefully the combo of 5G and a high refresh rate doesn’t kill the battery in no time flat.
The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra will be released in China on 16 August, but there’s no word yet on international availability. The prices start at CNY 5,299 ($760/ £584/ AU$1,069) for the 8GB/128GB base version and peak at CNY 6,999 ($1,005/ £771/ AU$1,413).
